Since the beginning of video games back in the 50s with the oscilloscope and the tennis game that saw the birth of the first video game, so to speak, electronic games began to try to be a form of entertainment.
However, it was not until the intervention of the great master, considered the father of video games, Nolan Bushnell, with the video game Computer Space in the 70s that the gaming industry really began to emerge as one of the most profitable industries in the gaming field.
Continuing with the theme, many companies began to participate in what regards to video games, being one of the first of course ATARI, in the considered era of the 8 bits, continuing with Arcade games, where the main protagonist was the video game still played by many retro gamers and started to be known among the current generations, the PACMAN game, created by NAMCO, other games of the time were Battle Zone by ATARI and ZAXXN by SEGA.
On the other side of the world, in Japan also began to venture into the world of video games, a company that began with the creation of playing cards, with illustrations instead of numbers inside the cards, also saw the potential of electronic games and began to develop some concepts under the name of Yamauchi Nintendo, currently known as Nintendo.
Nowadays, games have evolved in a very adaptive way to the technological environment that surrounds us, first with the passage of video games from cartridge to dvd, and very quickly to blu-ray for several reasons, the first of them for the space, because with the rapid advancement of technology in terms of visuals, the visual panorama has expanded a lot in resolutions, first in resolutions of 720 pixels, then to 1080, and very close to the version of 4094, better known as 4K and sooner than expected the next resolution of 7680 or 8K, so the file size demanded more capacity to support that resolution.
With the above I only express one of many features that make video games evolve to the next level and therefore the consoles become obsolete at an impressive speed, forcing video game companies to improve or be forgotten, as have been some companies that were not attentive to the future and were doomed very quickly.
In addition, well-known and renowned companies such as Sony with its PlayStation, Microsoft with its XBox consoles and Nintendo with its constant console innovations, have had to constantly adapt.
And this has led to the world has set its eyes on this company emerging new companies that are dedicated to other technological aspects, wanting to try to break into this world of video games.
With the new emergence of the use of the Cloud, or cloud services, which is a service that is served through a computer network through the use of the Internet, has caused companies engaged in computing to turn to see the video games as a possibility to cover more services for new players.
Companies like Google and its upcoming STADIA service and Apple with its Apple Arcade service, propose a new concept which does not require the use of consoles or physical games, but only an internet connection, a monthly subscription and a wide range of devices, each company’s own, to be able to play, as they say: “anytime, anywhere”, for example with Google, you will only require a device with Google Chrome and 10 Mb of speed or 30Mb to use the 4K, and with Apple any device of their family, such as ipad, mac, apple tv plus a monthly subscription.
It has expanded the options for players, and this may generate that price competition is at a more competitive level, since being able to choose between 2 or 3 companies only, began to increase their subscriptions more and more, or on the other hand the micro transactions within the games, also began to be something very frequent, to the extent of buying the game and discover that in weeks you no longer had the full game at all.
Besides the price, this will also create more opportunities for new companies wishing to develop games or for freelancers waiting for an opportunity with more options to choose in which platform to present their ideas and projects.
With this I just want to express that video games are being renewed and are creating opportunities at the same technological level, with the use of electronic devices, not only consoles and their respective controls, but now only a smartphone or other electronic device with internet connection will be enough to enter the fantastic world of video games.
The question here is: What’s next?
